National Middle School(Chennai)

• We had Farewell function on Saturday for 8th standard students. Firstly students gave a dances performance to all of us present. Then certificates were distributed for students who cleared Bible test conducted by the School management. Certificates were also are given to students who excelled in gardening, who kept good behavior, who secured first mark, for good up keeping and for being “All rounder” and “Best student”. Later we had gift distribution by staffs and our friends to the students Importantly we had interacted with the students counseling and guiding them according to their aim and interest. We also shared our ideas and experiences with the students

• The total expenses we incurred was Rs 3465 (for 35 Tiffin boxes, each costing Rs 99. 35*99=3465)

Protection from Heat

• Due to the severe heat especially during noon time, the children were finding it difficult to sit in the class rooms. After looking at different possibilities like covering the roof with a Tarpaulin or painting the roof with heat resistant paints, we went ahead with painting the roof with heat resistant paints. The painting started on April 15th and it has now been completed. The HM is very happy with this and said that they can feel the difference after painting the roof
• The total area painted is 2130 sqft. At Rs 4 per sq/feet the cost for this entire work came to Rs 8000 (after discount of Rs 130 from the painter). We have paid the amount to the painter. This painting lasts for 3 years

Monthly Activity

• April 24th is marked for the monthly activity this time. A separate communication has been sent by Prakash already to all friends who are in Chennai detailing this
• For the gifts which we have planned to the give the passing out students, when asked, the HM suggested that we may give Tiffin box as gifts. If any of you would like to part take here, kindly let know
• Mentoring & Motivation (at National Middle School)- There is a need for people who are willing to talk to passing out students. Encouraging them to continue Schooling and purse higher education can be one aspect that we can talk to the Children. We can also look at sharing our experiences with the Children and emphasizing how good education helped us in our lives and so on. If any one of you are willing to motivate the students, please come forward

We have two new friends, Selva Kumar Velusamy and Naga Babu who will be working with us. Thank you Selva Kumar and Naga Babu. All the energy that you bring along will together help us work better in areas of Education and Healthcare and provide better service to the institutions that we partner with. Meeting in Hyderabad:

• We had our 2010 Q1 Board meeting in Hyderabad. Apart from reviewing our existing work, we looked at areas where we could improve and together work effectively and render service to the institutions that we are partnering with. New Request

• We have a new request from National Middle School (Chennai) to have the roof painted with heat resistant paint and for the gap with some other material like rex or which is used to cover the goods carrier trucks
